All good things

They say all good things must end.  Which is why with a heavy heart I will be returning to work tomorrow.  Don’t cry for me.  It’s been a good time.  What? Are you telling me you don’t feel at all sorry for me and my only 20 days of being work free?  Well if you put it that way, I can kinda see your point.

So what have I been up to these last couple weeks?  Besides the drug induced comas, a lot of nothing.  Oh I managed to make a couple baby blankets, fix a dress, and clean up misc piles of junk laying around the house waiting for someone with some idle time to take care of, but mostly I’ve been reading and watching movies.  My friend threatened me with bodily harm if I didn’t read the Percy Jackson series and I will do anything to get out of bodily harm so they are all finished along with a couple other books..

I also went to the movies several times.  Where we live is a teeny tiny old fashion one screen theater.  The best part is it’s really cheap to go see new movies there, but they normally only play one or two a week.  This week they were playing Despicable Me.  Oh I have never laughed so hard at children’s misery as I did that day.  Curtis wasn’t that interested in seeing it, and so me and Emilee went together.

We were standing in line at the concessions when I started getting bouncy.  Emilee just handed me my nerd ropes and it was just what I needed, sugar coated sugar.  I started to whack Emi a couple times with my new noms when I heard someone laugh behind me.  I spun around to find a strange man smiling at me.  ”you can hit me too if you want”, he said.  I instantly labeled him creepzilla, and smiled politely before turning away.

Another thing I love about this theater is the balcony.  You have to have someone that’s 21 with you to sit up there, and most of the time the kids stay below.  Emilee and I headed up there because even though I do not act 21 we all know I am way past that date.  Unfortunately creepzilla decided to follow us up, and sit by us.  So I have no idea what was going through this guys head.  Single guy goes to a kids movie, and proceeds to hit on women?  Which we have to admit I’m a pretty hot enchilada.  You know, meaty, and covered in red sauce.  Seriously though.  I was dressed to impress in my cat hair covered capris, and my cheap tee shirt.  I think i had ran a comb through my hair early that morning in a vague attempt to tame it’s wild frizziness.  Every part of me must of screamed “cougar on the prowl”!!!!

We did attempt to ignore him, and talked as loudly as we could about Curtis, and how he was waiting home for us when we got out of the movies.  Thankfully the show started quickly, and afterwards we took our sweet time leaving to make sure creepzilla had a nice head start on us.  Alas, our efforts were in vain as he also took his sweet time leaving so he could wait for us.  That’s when I had to pull out my snottiness.  I know I should of done that way before, but I just kept hoping he would get the hint.  I wear a wedding ring.  I didn’t act interested.  I didn’t ask him questions, and I wasn’t more than passingly polite.  The worse part was at that point I started getting terrified that he would follow us out in his creepy serial killer van.  We made a mad dash to the car, and proceeded to  tear out, going the round about way.  Oh yes, he did follow us too, but fear helped my gas pedal ditch him and once we got home I refused to leave without Curtis.

So in what world did this guy think it was ok to hit on me like that?  What right did he have?  Besides getting rude what could I have done differently?  Trust me, I did nothing to encourage it besides be polite.  Why should it be so wrong to do that?  Of course now that I look at the situation from a far it’s a little out of character that I got so scared.  Maybe he was just sending off some really bad signals I was subconsciously picking up.  So while I still plan on leaving the house without Curtis, I need to be careful.  I could still be polite, but maybe I should get a big stick.

It still sucks going to work tomorrow.  No matter what you think.  Be nice.  I might have a big stick.

Wow, creepy! I’m glad you guys weren’t hurt or thrown in a white van…I’d miss you guys too much. Thankfully your gas pedal seemed to work great! :)

Hope to see you soon! :)

Ha Ha! You only had 20 days in a row off. I get 10 weeks in a row off and that doesn’t include the incredibly generous time off for all major holidays between September and June. So, let’s recap: 10 weeks for summer (because, well, it’s summer); 2 weeks for Christmas, one week for Thanksgiving and another for Easter; numerous four day weekends…Yep. Pretty much sucks to be me. NOT!

(On an entirely different note, I am so glad you are well :)

It’s probably good that fear kicked in. There’s no telling what creeps like that will do.

Have fun at work. I’m happy you’re better. :-)
